What Season 16 Changes for D2R Non-Ladder Players
Season 16 brings the Season 15 item changes to Online Non-Ladder but not the Patch 3.4 rebalance. Here is what arrives, the faster cast and run gains that matter for leveling, and why Non-Ladder Eternity stays the old version.
Season 16 brings ten Season 15 item changes to Online Non-Ladder in Reign of the Warlock, but not the Patch 3.4 rebalance. The new stats for 18 uniques, Isenhart's Armory and Eternity stay on Online Ladder and Offline, and Classic and Lord of Destruction change nothing.
This follows Blizzard's Season 16 announcement. The season has not started as of Nov 6, so the build comments below are predictions, not results.
Non Ladder Item Changes Arriving in Season 16
Ten items, all Reign of the Warlock only, go live on Online Non-Ladder when Season 16 opens on Friday, Nov 13. They have been on Online Ladder since Season 15 under Patch 3.3. The list is Angelic Raiment, Bane Ash, Blinkbat's Form, Bloodletter, Gravenspine, Manald Heal, Pluckeye, Rogue's Bow, The Battlebranch and The Ward.
Non-Ladder players in Classic or Lord of Destruction see nothing change. The Patch 3.4 stats are a separate matter: they apply to Online Ladder and Offline, so Online Non-Ladder does not get them.
Non-Ladder also picked up something in Season 15 already: Blizzard opened eight former ladder-only runewords to it, Mania, Hysteria, Metamorphosis, Ground, Temper, Hearth, Cure and Bulwark, again for Reign of the Warlock only. The details are in Blizzard's Season 15 post.
The FCR and FRW Gains for Leveling Characters
Speed is where these changes help a Non-Ladder leveling character most.
| Item | Season 15 change | Why it matters |
|---|
| Bane Ash | Removed +20% IAS and +50-60% ED. Added +20% FCR | A level 5 staff that now reads as a caster's early weapon |
| Gravenspine | Added +10% FCR | A level 20 Bone Wand, the necromancer's usual weapon type |
| Manald Heal | Added +10% FCR | A level 15 ring that costs you no rune or socket |
| Bloodletter | Added 20% FRW | A level 30 Gladius for a leveling Barbarian |
| Blinkbat's Form | +10% → +30% FRW. Added +1 To Mana After Each Kill | A level 12 Leather Armor, within reach in Normal |
The Blinkbat's Form number stands out. Its 30% FRW now beats the 25% FRW on the Stealth runeword, and it needs no runes and no socketed armor. Stealth also gives cast rate and hit recovery, so Blinkbat's mostly suits characters that do not need those extras. Whether it replaces Stealth for your build is worth testing rather than assuming.
Bane Ash is the one with a tradeoff. It loses its attack speed and damage lines and gains cast rate, so anyone swinging it is worse off. For a caster, 20% FCR at level 5 is a clear early upgrade, which is the group we expect to use it.
The other Season 15 changes are smaller but real. Pluckeye gains +25% IAS, Rogue's Bow gains +1-3 to either Cold Arrow or Fire Arrow for an Amazon, The Ward gains one socket, and The Battlebranch drops from item level 34 to 30 and from required level 25 to 17, which makes it easier to find and to wear. Angelic Raiment's Sickle gets Damage +6 with three items, the Mantle gets +100% Damage To Undead with three items, and the full set gets +1 To All Skills.
Eternity and the Patch 3.4 Uniques Stay Old on Non-Ladder
If you build Eternity on Online Non-Ladder this season, you get the old version: 5-socket melee weapons, +260-310% ED and Level 8 Revive with 88 charges. The Patch 3.4 additions do not exist there, which means no +30% IAS, no +3-297 max damage line, no missile weapon bases and no +5 Revive O skill.
The same goes for Dimoak's Hew, Serpent Lord, Griswold's Edge, The Salamander, Veil of Steel and the rest of the Patch 3.4 list. Non-Ladder keeps their old stats. Our Patch 3.4 breakdown has the full tables if you want to see what you are not getting.
Blizzard's notes do not say whether those changes will ever reach Non-Ladder, and we will not assume they do. If you want to try the new Eternity without playing ladder, a Reign of the Warlock Offline character gets the Patch 3.4 stats.
How We Would Plan a Non-Ladder Character This Season
Plan around the ten items you actually get, not the 18 you do not. Our picks, on paper:
- A caster leveling build should look at the cast rate pieces first: Bane Ash or Gravenspine for the weapon slot and Manald Heal for a ring.
- A Barbarian or other melee leveler should look at Blinkbat's Form for early running speed and Bloodletter once level 30 arrives.
- Do not build a Non-Ladder plan around a Patch 3.4 unique. Blizzard's notes give you no reason to expect it there.

FAQ
Do the Season 15 item changes apply to Classic or LoD Non-Ladder?
No. The changes are for Reign of the Warlock only. Classic and Lord of Destruction characters keep the old stats on every item in the list.
Will the Patch 3.4 uniques come to Online Non-Ladder later?
Blizzard's notes do not say. For now they are limited to Reign of the Warlock on Online Ladder and Offline, and we are treating that as the rule until Blizzard says otherwise.
Can I try the new Eternity without playing ladder?
Yes, on an Offline Reign of the Warlock character, because Patch 3.4 applies to Offline as well as Online Ladder. Online Non-Ladder will still show the old Eternity.
Thinking About Trying Ladder Too?
