Annihilus Small Charm: How to Get & Perfect Rolls
The Annihilus small charm is the most universally wanted charm in Diablo 2 Resurrected. Every build wants it, it only drops from Diablo Clone, and perfect rolls are worth ladder-defining amounts of currency.
Annihilus Small Charm Guide
The Annihilus small charm is the apex trophy in Diablo 2 Resurrected. It drops only from Diablo Clone after spawning from sold SoJs, comes in limited copy counts per game, and offers stats that make every character stronger. Understanding what makes an Anni valuable, how to hunt Diablo Clone, and what your rolls actually trade for separates new players from veterans managing their wealth.
What the Annihilus Does
The Annihilus grants:
- +1 to all skills (huge for any character)
- +10–20 to all attributes (variable roll; depends on ilvl)
- +5–10 poison poison absorb (not the same as poison resist; absorb means damage heals you instead)
- Varies by ilvl and roll
For context, most rare small charms give +3–5 to a single stat or +10 life. An Annihilus gives a blanket +1 skills, which is equivalent to one unique item''s worth of bonus to your character''s damage or survivability. Every single endgame build slots an Anni into their inventory and keeps it until they die and lose it or trade up.
How Diablo Clone Spawns and the Drop
Diablo Clone spawns when players sell SoJs to vendors across the server in a specific timeframe. The first person or character to sell an SoJ triggers a countdown, and when the total SoJs sold reaches roughly 75–150 (varies per server region), Diablo spawns in place of the next Super Unique you encounter. This is called "DClone walking"; players group up and wander Baal runs or Chaos Sanctuary waiting for the spawn.
On single-player or in private games, DClone spawns instantly after 75 SoJs are sold. This is why solo grinders farm SoJs early and have Anis before ladder is 48 hours old.
The Annihilus is guaranteed to drop from Diablo Clone, but only one per spawn. After you kill him, he resets; re-sell SoJs and he returns to the next unique pack you hunt. Each spawn is a fresh Annihilus drop, so group play and efficient SoJ farming make multiple Anis achievable.
Stat Ranges and Ilvl: What Counts as Perfect
Annihilus rolls three variable stats: +all attributes (10–20), poison absorb (5–10), and—if high ilvl—you can roll +1 to specific skill trees (though this is rare and random).
The perfect Annihilus is:
- ilvl 96+ (only possible from Hell DClone)
- +20 to all attributes
- +10 poison absorb (technically +13–16 in some odd-ball rolls, but 10 is the max you reliably see)
- Rolls to +1 to all skills (always present)
An ilvl 96 20/10 Anni will trade for 3–5 high runes (Ber, Jah) early ladder and stabilizes to 2–3 Ber equivalent mid-to-late ladder as supply increases.
A mid-roll 18/8 or 19/9 Anni trades for 1.5–2.5 Ber because it is very close to perfect and most characters cannot tell the difference.
A common 16/6 or 14/5 Anni trades for 0.5–1 Ber (or 1 Lo / 1 Mal equivalents) and is still in extremely high demand because Anni is Anni.
A low-roll ilvl 90 10/5 Anni trades for 0.25 Ber (or a few mid runes) and is still rare enough that even a bad one is worth hunting.
Playing Without an Anni: How Much It Matters
Can you farm endgame and kill bosses without an Anni? Absolutely. You will just be 5–10% slower because that +1 skills pushes you over breakpoints, adds one point to key passives, or gives 10 life per build tier. Over 100 Mephisto runs, the time saved by an Anni is measurable—maybe 5–10 minutes total.
However, for competing in PvP or pushing Uber Tristram, an Anni is nearly mandatory. The skill breakpoints in endgame are so tight that +1 skills can mean the difference between a 33 FPA Vengeance and a 30 FPA one. For hardcore farming on a budget, skip the Anni and buy better gear; for min-maxing and speed, the Anni is the multiplier that makes everything else work.
The Diablo Clone Hunting Meta
Most ladder players farm SoJs via Andy runs (cheap, fast, quest-bug bonus) or boss-swap runs (rotating Mephisto, Andy, and other bosses). Once 50 SoJs are banked, they sell them to an NPC vendor to spawn DClone, then run Chaos Sanctuary or Baal runs until he spawns. The first Annihilus usually drops within the first 24 hours of ladder, and every Anni afterward is profit.
Hardcore farmers keep a DClone character semi-permanently (one who hunts SoJs and watches for the spawn globally across servers) and reset ladder progress for the Anni early, knowing they can regear by Week 2.
