Hellfire Torch Guide: Ubers, Rolls & Trade Value
The Hellfire Torch is the endgame small charm that every serious player chases. Here is what it rolls, why Uber Tristram is the only source, and how to price yours when the drop finally hits.
Hellfire Torch: The Endgame Chase
The Hellfire Torch is the rarest and most valuable small charm in Diablo 2 Resurrected. It drops exclusively from Diablo Clone in Uber Tristram after defeating the three Prime Evils, grants +1 to all skills for your character, +10-20 to all attributes, and 10-20% experience bonus. A single Hellfire Torch can shift your entire build because the +1 skill level stacks with gear, mercenary auras, and other bonuses to push your primary attacks past breakpoints and your damage through the ceiling.
What the Hellfire Torch Gives Your Character
The Hellfire Torch is a small charm that occupies one inventory slot (1x1 grid). Unlike Annihilus, which gives +1 to all skills for your character sheet but does not level spells, Hellfire Torch grants +1 to all skills directly — it boosts your skill levels on every ability tree. The stat roll is always +1 to all skills, but the accompanying attribute bonuses and experience bonuses vary significantly.
| Stat Range | Value |
|---|
| +All Skills | Always +1 |
| All Attributes | +10 to +20 |
| Experience Bonus | +10% to +20% |
For example, a Hammerdin with a max-roll Hellfire Torch gets +1 to Blessed Hammer (and every other skill), +20 to Strength/Dexterity/Vitality/Energy (stacking with gear), and 20% experience gain on monster kills — effectively cutting your leveling time to 99 by a fifth.
Uber Tristram: The Only Way to Get One
Hellfire Torches do not drop from any normal boss or farming route. They come exclusively from Diablo Clone when he spawns in Tristram during the Uber Tristram event. Uber Tristram requires defeating all three Prime Evils: Mephisto (Act III, Durance of Hate), Diablo (Act IV, Chaos Sanctuary), and Baal (Act V, Worldstone Keep). Each kill produces an Essence; combine all three Essences with a Stone of Jordan in the Horadric Cube to summon Diablo Clone in the Tristram waypoint (Act I).
The fight is brutal: Diablo Clone spawns with heavy cold, fire, and physical damage, and he casts life-drain melee attacks. Most players use an Exile Runeword Smiter (the traditional tank) or a teleporting Sorceress with Enigma for mobility. The key is crowd control and damage avoidance; Diablo Clone has no immunities and crippled when kited properly.
Class Rolls and Stat Ranges
The Hellfire Torch base always grants +1 to all skills, but the secondary stats roll differently depending on which class character the Torch was found on. If Diablo Clone dies while you are running a Hammerdin, the Torch rolls for Paladin class. Torches are not character-exclusive, but they do reflect the class that was present at the kill.
| Class | Typical Role |
|---|
| Sorceress | High-demand, FCR builds benefit |
| Barbarian | Bash/Whirlwind hitters want the dex roll |
| Paladin | Skill-stacking Auradins and Hammerdins buy aggressively |
| Necromancer | Summon builds leverage the +1 to Curses and minion skills |
| Druid | Elemental and melee hybrids push breakpoints |
| Amazon | Javazons and bow builds scale with +1 |
| Assassin | Traps and Martial Arts builds get +1 to both trees |
| Druid (Warrior) | Less demanded than Summoner or Elemental |
Stat ranges stay consistent: +10 to +20 all attributes, and +10% to +20% experience. A max-roll Torch is always better, but the distribution of attribute points matters little; most characters just want the +1.
Perfect Torches and Lottery Rolls
A "perfect" Hellfire Torch has:
- +1 to all skills (always guaranteed)
- +20 to all attributes (max roll on attributes)
- +20% experience (max roll on experience)
Perfect Torches are extraordinarily rare because the Torch is already a rare drop, and rolling 20/20 on secondary stats happens in maybe 5-10% of drops. Most Torches land in the 10-15 attribute range with 10-15% experience.
Certain class Torches command premiums. Sorceress and Paladin Torches are the most sought because those classes chase skill levels hardest. Necromancer Torches are steady sellers for summoners. Assassin Torches are niche but have a cult following in PvP and trap-focused builds.
Pricing Torches by Class and Roll
Torch pricing depends on class and roll, and it shifts heavily based on ladder phase:
Early ladder (week 1-2): First Torches are extremely rare. A mediocre 12/12 Sorceress Torch might trade for 2-3 Ber runes. Perfect rolls are priceless.
Mid-ladder (week 3-6): Supply picks up. A mediocre Sorceress Torch (10-15 attrs, 10-15% xp) trades for 1-1.5 Ber. A max-roll (20/20) Sorceress Torch holds at 2-3 Ber.
Late ladder (week 8+): Torches are common enough that rolls matter more than class. A 15/15 Sorceress Torch might only fetch 0.75-1 Ber, while a 20/20 any-class Torch stays at 1.5-2 Ber.
Paladin Torches run 10-20% premium over Sorceress equivalents. Druid and Necromancer are stable middle ground. Barbarian, Amazon, and Assassin are budget Torches that move slowly.
As a rule of thumb: divide your Torch''s attributes by 20, then divide the experience by 20, and add them as a percentage markup. A 16/14 Torch is (0.8 + 0.7) / 2 = 75% value compared to a 20/20 Torch. If the 20/20 is worth 1.5 Ber, your 16/14 is worth roughly 1.1 Ber.
Why Every Endgame Character Needs One
A Hellfire Torch is not luxury — it is mandatory for your final build. The +1 skill levels open new skill breakpoints, push damage into one-shot territory, and accelerate experience gain in endgame content like Chaos Sanctuary and Uber Tristram runs. Combine it with an Annihilus small charm and you are stacking +2 to all skills, which is the definition of an endgame character in D2R.
