How to Find a D2R Season 16 Team
How to find a D2R team for Season 16, step by step: creating an account, your Ladder Setup, the free-agent pool, applying to open teams, what to ask a captain, and what to do when no team fits.
To find a D2R team for Season 16, create an account at /register, fill in the Ladder Setup on your profile, then apply to an open team or wait in the free-agent pool for an invite. Do it this week if you can: Season 16 starts Friday, November 13 at 5 PM PST (8 PM EST), and rosters are easiest to join before launch night.
Some context for newcomers. D2 Hustlers runs a community ladder on the Reign of the Warlock ruleset with 8-man team play. It is separate from Blizzard's official leaderboard and is not affiliated with Blizzard. Season 15 ends Monday, November 9, so the days between seasons are when most captains are likely to recruit. The launch times come from Blizzard's Season 16 announcement; everything about the site below is what the pages do today, and first-timers should read New to Ladder? Join a D2R Season 16 Team.
Join a D2R Ladder Team in Five Steps
1. Create your account. Open /register and create it with a username, email and password, or use the Register with Discord button. Teams, applications and invites all run through your account, so nothing else works until it exists. Registering with email and password drops you straight into your profile editor.
2. Fill in your Ladder Setup. In the profile editor, find the Ladder Setup section, because that is what captains actually read. Put your Main class and build first (you can rank several classes), then your preferred role, region and mode. The "More details (optional)" panel adds how serious you are, mic or no mic, what you are chasing, whether you can start right at reset, and how many hours you can give the first 24 hours, from under 4 up to 16 plus. Fill all of it in, then hit Save my setup. A card that says "Sorceress, Tele/Taxi, support, EU, mic, 8-12h" is much easier to invite than a blank one.
3. Check that your setup saved. Wait for the "Saved!" confirmation, since the list leaves out your own card. Captains browse the players page, headed "Players Looking for Teams", which lists players without a roster spot, filterable by name, class, region and seriousness. A captain with a team sees a fit score against their open slots and an Invite to Team button on your card. If an invite arrives, it appears under Invites, and you choose your class, build and slot before you accept; How to Get Picked Up by a Season 16 Team covers making one more likely.
4. Apply instead of waiting. On the teams page you can filter by region, mode, ruleset, commitment and open or closed. Each card shows the captain, active spots out of 8, bench spots out of 4, the mission statement and the preferred comp. An open team shows Join Team and puts you on the roster straight away. A closed team shows Request to Join and sends an application the captain has to answer. Teams marked Strict only take players whose saved class and build match an open slot, so finish step 2 first.
5. Message the captain. The quick apply button sends your saved main class and build with no text at all. Open your applications instead, where each one has its own conversation box, and write three lines: your class and build, the hours you can play, and your timezone plus whether you use a mic. You can only be on one team per season, so send two or three applications rather than ten, and withdraw any you no longer want while they are still pending.
How to Tell if a Team Is a Good Fit
A card tells you who a team says it is. A ten-minute chat tells you who it is. Use the card to filter and the conversation to decide.
Start with commitment and the mission statement. If you can give six hours a week and the statement describes 16-hour launch pushes, you will not be happy there, even if you both ticked the same word. Then look at the comp. A roster with all eight slots filled by classes you do not play has no room for you, while two open slots that match your build mean they want you.
Before you accept, ask these:
- What does a normal week look like, and what happens if I miss a session?
- How are drops and runes split: a shared pool, or finder keeps?
- Is voice required, optional, or text only?
- Who makes the call on launch night, and is the plan written down?
- What happens to players who go quiet or fall behind?
A captain with ready answers has run a team before. If you want to see what a written plan looks like, the strategy library has Taxi Strat 3.0 and others that a team can adopt, and it is fair to ask a captain which one they plan to use.
No Fit? Start Your Own Team
If nothing matches, create one at /ladder/create-team, and see how to start your own D2R team for Season 16. The form asks for a team name, a tag of up to 10 characters, region, mode, ruleset, commitment, seriousness, a mission statement, and eight class-and-build slots. Check the ruleset dropdown before saving, because the choices are Classic, LoD and RotW. Open teams let people join directly, and closed teams make them apply, so untick "Open for applications" if you want to vet people first.
Write the mission statement like a recruiting ad, using the recruitment post templates: your hours, your timezone, what you want out of week one. Then work the pool from the other side. Once you have a team, each card shows a fit score against your open slots plus an Invite to Team button, so you can recruit instead of waiting. A three-player core with a few invites out beats searching alone on launch night.
Lobbies, Discord and D2R Clan Recruiting Posts
You do not have to use our site, and plenty of good groups form elsewhere. In-game lobbies are quick for run partners. Discord servers with LFG channels are where most clan recruiting happens: post your region, hours and class, then wait for replies. The tradeoff is follow-through. A reply proves someone is online right now, not that they will turn up on Saturday.
The guides to where to find ladder players, whether a guild is worth joining and how D2R clans organize go deeper, and the launch date guide has the times for every region. Whichever route you take, play one trial session before launch. How someone behaves in hour three tells you how they will behave at 2 AM on launch night.
FAQ
Where do D2R ladder teams talk during the season?
Many teams run voice on Discord, so a captain may point you to a server once you are on the roster. Your profile has optional fields for a Discord tag and your Battle.net tag. The D2 Hustlers server is at discord.gg/QE9V9JX8ME.
How early should I register before the season starts?
As early as you can. Captains tend to build rosters in the days before launch, and a complete card gives them time to read it. Season 16 opens Friday, November 13 at 5 PM PST, and nothing is gained by waiting for the countdown to hit zero.
Can I still join a team after Season 16 has started?
Usually. Teams lose players to burnout and no-shows, and a captain with an open slot in week two is glad to see a leveled character with clear hours. Check the teams page and the pool again after the first weekend instead of assuming the door closed at launch.
Get Your Card Ready Before Friday
Create your account at /register, finish the Ladder Setup on your profile and wait for the "Saved!" confirmation so captains can find you in the free-agent pool. Send two applications from the teams page the same evening, or create a team and invite your way to eight. The reset countdown shows how long you have.
