D2R LFT: How to Get Picked Up by a Season 16 Team
How to get picked up by a Season 16 D2R team as a free agent: registering, filling in Ladder Setup, what captains see on the players page, writing a profile that earns invites, applying to open teams and what to do if nobody bites before launch.
To get picked up by a Season 16 team, create an account at /register, fill in the Ladder Setup section of your profile, and check your applications and invites every day. Captains browse the free-agent page for players like you, but applying to open teams gets you a seat faster than waiting for an invite.
LFT means looking for team, and the site uses the same words on its badges. Season 16 starts Friday, November 13 at 5 PM PST (8 PM EST), with Europe starting Saturday at 1 AM GMT and Asia at 9 AM CST, according to Blizzard's announcement. Sort this out now: a captain reading cards the week before launch sees a finished profile or a blank one.
How Do You Get Listed as a Free Agent on D2 Hustlers?
1. Create an account. Sign up at /register with a username, email and password, or use the Register with Discord button. Signing up with email and password opens your profile editor.
2. Open Ladder Setup. The editor opens on Basics. Pick Ladder Setup in the sidebar, because that section is what captains read.
3. Fill in the essentials. Your classes & builds and Preferred role are marked Required. Region (North America, Europe or Asia) and Mode (Softcore or Hardcore) have defaults of North America and Softcore, so change them if they are wrong.
4. Open More details (optional). It holds seriousness, voice comms, reset goals, start timing, a first-24-hour commitment, availability, notes and ladder records. Untouched defaults are saved as if you chose them: Casual, On the mic, Right at reset and 4-8h. A captain reads those as real, so check each one.
5. Press Save my setup. This is a separate button from the autosave on the other sections, and the page confirms with a Saved message.
There is no looking-for-team switch to flip. The free-agent page lists every account without a roster spot this season, which is why a card you never filled in reads "No ladder class/build set".
What Do Captains See on the D2R Free-Agent Page?
The players page is headed Players Looking for Teams, and each card carries a Looking for Team badge. A card shows your name, region, Ladder Build (Main class and builds), role and mode, whether you start at reset or a number of hours later, your first-24-hour commitment, voice, goals, any ladder records, availability and notes. View Profile opens a page with your ranked classes, bio, characters and past teams.
Captains see more. A captain with a team gets a Fit score out of 100 (Exact, Strong, Partial or Weak), a Best Slot and an Invite to Team button on every card. The score weighs class and build against open slots first, then region, mode, whether you can start at launch and whether your first-24-hour commitment matches what the team expects. Filters cover name, class, region and seriousness. The class, region and seriousness filters use the main class, region and seriousness saved in Ladder Setup, so those answers decide whether you appear when a captain filters.
How Do You Write an LFT Profile That Gets Invites?
Every line on the card has to do work, because captains skim.
- Rank classes honestly. List the classes you would gladly play, best first, and tick the builds. The top entry is your Main, and Strict Mode teams check only your Main class and its first build against their open slots.
- Name a role. Support, DPS, Aura, MF, Tank and Utility are one-tap options, and typing your own works too.
- Give real hours. Pick the first-24-hour range you can deliver. If you cannot start at launch, choose A bit after and enter the hours, so the card reads +2h instead of a vague maybe.
- Use availability and notes. Both show in full on the card.
- Add goals and records only if true. Chips such as Hell Baal Day 1 or Level 90+ Week 1 tell a captain what you chase, and best placements show on the card.
- Write a bio. The Bio field under Basics shows on your profile page.
Tele/Taxi Sorc main, Blizz as second. EU, mic on. Starts at launch and can play 12 hours, then weeknights 8 to 11 PM CET. Happy to take whichever slot a team is short on.
How Do You Apply to Open D2R Teams?
Open the teams page. Filters cover region, mode, ruleset, commitment, seriousness, open or closed, and strict or not, and the search box reads team names, tags, captains and mission statements. Read the mission statement against your real hours before pressing anything.
An open team shows Join Team, which seats you in its first open active slot immediately. A closed team shows Request to Join, which sends an application with your Main class and build and no message. Strict teams disable the button when your Main class and first build do not match an open slot.
Then open your applications. Every application has its own Conversation box, and that is where the real application goes: class and build, hours, timezone and mic. Applying to two or three teams is fine. The moment you land on a roster, the site closes your other pending applications and invites, and a pending application can be withdrawn whenever you like.
What Should You Do When a Captain Invites You?
When an invite is pending, an Invites item with a number badge appears in the Ladder menu, and the page itself is /ladder/invites. Each invite shows the team, the captain's message and a suggested class and build, plus a Conversation box. Ask what a captain would ask you: hours, voice, loot and the plan.
Accept opens a window where you confirm class and build, choose Active slot or Bench, and pick an open slot, which is pre-filled if the captain chose one. Active needs a slot. Bench does not, and suits a player who can play most weeks but not all. Decline removes the invite.
A captain may also answer your application with Request Info. The status changes and a Respond button appears, so reply with your class, build, an open slot if you want one, and a message. Suggest Change shows up as "Captain suggests" with a different class or build.
What If No D2R Team Picks You Up Before Launch?
Widen first. Add a second and third class to the ranked list, accept the bench, and apply to every open team that matches your region and hours, because Join Team needs no reply.
Then try other routes. Post in the D2 Hustlers Discord. Sign up for runs on /lfg, where hosts accept or decline players by role and note, and meet people you can ask for an invite. Or start a team with friends using how to start a D2R team for Season 16.
Rosters change as players drop out, so check the teams page and the free-agent page again after the first weekend. Players in Europe or Asia can compare notes in the Europe and Asia team guide.
FAQ
What does LFT mean in D2R?
Looking for team. On D2 Hustlers it is any account with no roster spot this season, listed on the players page with a Looking for Team badge.
Do you need Ladder Setup to appear on the free-agent list?
An account is enough to be listed, but the card reads "No ladder class/build set" until Ladder Setup is saved. A card with nothing on it gives a captain no reason to send an invite.
Can you join more than one D2R team?
No. An account can be on one team per season. You can apply to several teams, and the others close automatically when one accepts you or you join an open one.
What if you cannot play at launch?
Choose A bit after in the start timing question and enter the number of hours. Your card shows the delay, and the fit score counts timing for teams whose reset window covers it.
How do you leave a team that is not working out?
Press Leave Team on the teams page or the team page. With no roster spot you are listed as a free agent again.
